An Introduction to the Human Design System
Human Design blends Kabbalah and quantum mechanics, I’Ching and biochemistry, chakra systems, and genetics. Like any system, it has limitations as well as value. Its value is that it helps us to accurately analyze what part of our current experience is “conditioned” and what part is our true self, leaving us with a decision to discard beliefs or behaviors that no longer serve us. It also helps us to accurately zoom in on our strengths, and potential issues in relationships with others. One of its major limitations is that it is solely focused on the base two soul expressions (the neshama and ruach), and does not accurately take into account the upper three soul expressions, nor a connection or belief in a higher power (G-d) for guidance and direction. Additionally, many of the original Human Design practitioners (those who studied with its founder, Ra) tend to really buy into a cynical belief that we are completely powerless over the dynamics of our biology and chart, again, removing the emphasis on spiritual and emotional development over our base instincts, as well as the transformative power of a personal relationship with our Creator.
In today’s episode we discuss the Human Design System and it’s synthesis. I invite listeners to participate in Self-Care Circle, a monthly New Moon practice where we set intentions for the month ahead. (email me for details!)
We also discuss the different layers of the soul, the ten emanations of G-d, and our soul work in this experience. Enjoy!

Every lunar month has its own Mazel or anointing. And then the Sun activates different neutrino weather every six days (and some planets move more quickly than that, some more slowly). Some people fear learning about planetary weather because they feel it is future forecasting. But it is no more future forecasting than a meteorologist predicting the weather: It is an educated guess, based on science, and the planets affect different charts differently (some people do not experience neutrino weather at all!). But as a midwesterner, I definitely want to know if today in January (hypothetically) is cold enough for a coat, or if I need a snowsuit and facemask.
The Four Aura Types in Human Design
Reflector (resistant and sampling) 1% of the population
Projector (focused and absorbing) 20% of the population
Manifestor (closed and repelling) 9% of the population
Generator or Manifesting Generator (Open and enveloping) 70% of the population
Each type reflects an aspect of the divine, in its expression, since “male and female,” we were created in the image of G-d. Reflectors are created in the image of G-d’s shekinah, the part of Him that is with us even in the darkest of places, the mystical mirrors of the rest of us. Projectors were made in the higher view aspect of G-d, that part of Him that can provide guidance and direction to our immediate circumstances; the lighthouses of the world. Manifestors were made in the image of His initiating qualities. Sometimes we arouse ourselves to become closer to Him, through prayer, meditation or music. Sometimes He arouses us from above to do something new, like when he went to Moses at the burning bush and said, “Let’s do this.” Generators were designed in the image of His sustaining aspect. The part of G-d that makes sure the sun shines, the rain pours, and everyone is given the vital life force needed to sustain creation.
